Google Trends

Google Trends

I use lots of handy online tools in my line of work: keyword tools, web site analytics, SEO tools, etc.  Google Trends is one such tool.  Google Trends shows how often topics have been searched on Google over time.  What draws my eye however is the bottom of the page: Today’s Hot Trends.  This shows in (relatively) real time the searches that are experiencing sudden surges in popularity.  It’s a view into pop culture and breaking news that are making waves on the web.  This is purely anecdotal, but I think the Hot Trends area tends to be filled with stories about celebrities.

Here are some Hot Trends right now:

anna hansen- Lance Armstrong’s girlfriend is expecting a baby

obama shirtless- Self explanatory

mark teixeira- Signed with the NY Yankees for $180M

When you spend as much time as I do creating ginormous lists of keywords, tools like this keyword combination generator really come in handy.
