Someone I follow on Twitter was asking for suggestions on mid-90’s rap songs to add to a mix.  That question is right up my alley… mad love for 90’s hip-hop!  For some reason I thought of this song.  Completely loved it when it came out, and it’s still a great tune.  I don’t remember seeing this video at the time:

The Roots

The Roots

The Roots are one of the best acts in hip-hop.  They have been for some time.  That’s why I was surprised, and initially disappointed, to hear they would be the house band for the new talk show “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon“.  But after reading about their reasons for making the move, including gaining some financial security not found in today’s economy when relying solely on concert ticket revenues to make a living, I’ve reconsidered.  I’ll give this show a shot if only to see original material from one of the most unique and talented groups out there.
