From Organic in Chicago:
“Our Daily Bread is an award winning 2005 documentary directed by Nikolaus Geyrhalter that provides an unblinking look at modern food production. No voice overs, no music, just wide screen looks at how our food is produced (which involves surprisingly few humans you consider the sheer quantities of food we produce)…
Part 1 of 10 is shown below. Our Daily Bread may be seen in its entirety here.”
I tried ordering online today and it worked! I’m not sure how long this will last, so get it now while you can. Just follow these instructions:
1. Go to the Domino’s Pizza site.
2. Click Order, then type in your address to find stores near you.
3. Choose the store you want, then create your order for a medium one-topping pizza.
4. Use coupon code BAILOUT.
TOC created a handy little list of Chicago restaurants where you can BYOB. The list mentions which places have a corking fee (I try to never go to those!) and which are free. It’s broken down by cuisine which is very useful.
The list is pretty abbreviated though, so check out Metromix for the big daddy BYOB list (385 restaurants!).
Cemitas Puebla is a family owned restaurant in Chicago specializing in Poblano foods. They are the only place in Chicago where you can get a “cemita”, which is a sandwich on sesame seed bread layered with avocado, choice of meat, adobo chipotle peppers, fresh Oaxacan cheese and papalo. Papalo is an herb similar to cilantro (which I love), and cemitas is a variation of the Mexican torta (which I also love).

Cemita Milanesa
I saw them on the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” and I just have to check this place out! Sounds tasty. They even have a coupon available on the site.
You know EZ Cheese, the most fun way to eat processed cheese spread on a cracker? This is the breakfast version: Organic Batter Blaster Pancake and Waffle Mix.
I have to confess, I want this stuff! Yes I really am that lazy. Just point, blast and cook!
From the BK press release: “The King is setting hearts ablaze for the holidays with his new scent of choice. FLAME™, a new men’s body spray by Burger King Corp., features the scent of seduction with the hint of flame-broiled meat.”
The only thing I can think of is the segment on SNL with Amy Poehler and Seth Myers… REALLY?
According to my brother, blogging about this is fulfilling BK marketing’s wet dream since generating a buzz was their intention. I can’t help myself though, this is just too… gross. (And there are not hordes of you reading this anyway, right?)
